Boat Permits
The Association has boats on three of the lakes:
Frongoch - 4 boats
Rhosrhydd - 3 boats
Glandwgan - 2 boats
Boat permits are only available to anglers holding a season permit, but caravan occupiers have use of the boats throughout their stay.
These can be used by any angler holding a boat permit - see below for more details.
Caravan occupiers have exclusive use of the boats and lake on Frongoch lake on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
All boats are provided with oars but anglers may use their own electric motors, if preferred.
Anglers are reminded that they use the boats at their own risk.
IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL BOAT USERS TO WEAR AN APPROVED LIFEJACKET WHEN USING AN ASSOCIATION BOAT.
There are specific Rules and Regulations regarding the use of the boats. No day or week permits are available except to occupiers of our caravans.

Boat Fishing Rules
ABERYSTWYTH ANGLING ASSOCIATION LTD.
BOAT RULES AND ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTIONS FOR 2024
ANGLING PERMIT HOLDERS EXERCISE THEIR RIGHTS TO FISH ASSOCIATION WATERS STRICTLY AT THEIR OWN RISK.
Fly fishing only is allowed from boats.
1) Anglers use the Association boats entirely at their own risk.
2) Boats should be operated in a responsible manner with due care for the safety of the occupants. A reasonable distance should be maintained from bank anglers.
3) Boats are suitable for only TWO persons.
4) Boat keys are not transferable and ALL boat anglers must possess a key for the current season, except for husband and wife members and parent and sibling in full time education members
5) Junior anglers must be accompanied by an adult permit/key holder.
6) All lakes are in the ownership of AAA and all anglers must possess a current AAA permit. Only AAA boats may be used on any of the lakes.
7) Standing whilst fishing is strictly prohibited
8) Anchoring is strictly prohibited
9) Trolling from boats is strictly prohibited.
10) Electric engines (only) are permitted on boats.
11) When all boats on a lake are occupied an angler must, when requested to by another boat permit holder, relinquish the use of the boat within a period of two hours from the time of the request.
12) The boat must be returned immediately to moorings once fishing bag limits (see section 3 below) have been reached by the boat user or users
13) Boats must be padlocked to mooring chains after use.
Fish Size and Bag Limits
1) No angler shall remove from any Association water any fish of a size less than 25.5 centimetres (10 inches) as measured from the tip of the snout to the fork of the tail.
2) All undersized fish caught by anglers must be returned at once to the water with as little injury as possible.
3) At Frongoch lake, 4 trout may be taken per day, to include a maximum of 2 brown trout (catch & release thereafter). All other waters a maximum of 2 brown trout per day (catch & release thereafter).
As an Associaiton we promote catch and release, and careful fish handling.
IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL BOAT USERS TO WEAR AN APPROVED LIFEJACKET WHEN USING AN ASSOCIATION BOAT.
THE ASSOCIATION ALSO ADVISES ALL ANGLERS TO USE EYE PROTECTION.
